AMC Mission & Ministry Meeting
Mark your calendars for the Mission and Ministry Meeting on Wednesday, September 26th at 10:00 am. The meeting will be at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Anchorage. This is an opportunity to discuss how AMC can serve the congregations of Alaska as we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will brainstorm about future ministry ideas and talk about ways we can work better together. This is open to all interested Church workers and lay people. Please let Rev. Todd Roeske know if you have any questions: toddroeske@ilovealaska.net

Celebrate LWML Sunday with us on October 7th
The first Sunday in October is traditionally set aside for the observation of LWML Sunday, but it may be celebrated at any time. Come celebrate here at Star of the North on Sunday, October 7th. Based upon Psalm 62:1–8, the theme chosen for LWML Sunday 2018 is “Our Rest in a Changing World.” As God’s children, we rest in the assurance that He loves us and sent His Son to redeem us. God is our rock and salvation. That firm foundation enables us to reach out into a changing world in need of the Gospel. Since 1942, the LWML has affirmed each woman’s identity as a child of God and her relationship with Jesus Christ, encouraging and equipping Christian women to live out their lives in active mission ministries, and to support missions around the world through their sacrificial gifts of mites, tithes, offerings, and tireless service.

Was Ist Das? – New Topic
We will be starting to look at a new question in our Thursday evening study: What does the church teach concerning the age of the earth? How do we defend that teaching against others who teach differently? Please join us on Thursday, September 6th as we start this study. Dinner is at 5:30 pm, study begins at 6:00 pm.

Ladies Bible Study
We will be meeting on Wednesdays from 10:00 – 11:30 am every week starting on September 5th. Please join us as we study the written Word of God together. We are going to start our year by studying St. Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

Questions for “Was Ist Das?”
In this study, we will explore questions pertaining to faith and practice (both practices of the church and our lives as Christians) through the reading of Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and the teachings of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The questions we will explore are your own questions, submitted by you. If you have any questions you would like to explore, please give them to Pastor Atkinson and he will add them to the list.

Confirmation Classes
We have two individuals who will be learning about what we believe, teach, and confess as the Christian Church. Please keep our confirmands (Destiny Langston and Jake Philips) in your prayers as they learn more about the faith they were baptized into. If there is anyone else who would like to join the class or just learn more about what we believe, please let Pastor Atkinson know.
